Three cruise ships have been or will be in Majuro this month and next with passengers seeing the sights and shopping for handicrafts. The Statendam, from Rotterdam and carrying 1,600 passengers, was here on October 8, while the Bremen, which is registered in Nassau, the Bahamas, visited with its 160 passengers on Saturday, October 17. A third cruise ship, the Silver Discoverer, which is also registered in the Bahamas and carries 120 passengers, will visit on November 28. According to shipping agent CENPAC, it will then visit Ailinglaplap Atoll.

In other shipping news, the private megayacht TV, which is apparently owned by a number of wealthy folk, including Mexican businessman Emilio Fernando Azcarrage Jean, arrived in the Marshall Islands in the first week of October. The yacht has been touring some of the outer islands and returned to Majuro on the weekend of October 17. It’s reported that the guests had a superb time diving our reefs and has plans to stay longer than anticipated. The 255-foot yacht has accommodation for 12 guests in six suites and has about 30 crew.
