9am, Tuesday, November 19, 2019: The counting of votes in the Marshall Islands national election is reportedly going well at the International Conference Center, with results for Majuro expected to be announced late today.
Many voters turned out early yesterday morning to cast their ballots at the many polling stations around the capital. By afternoon at the Uliga station, voting had slowed to a trickle.
The polls closed at 7pm and immediately after the controversial ban on postal voting was lifted, following an agreement signed Tuesday last week by the RMI government and attorneys for Marshallese who successfully sued the RMI government over the postal ban established by Public Law 2016-028.
