La Mancha Media — a California nonprofit corporation — was in the Marshall Islands in March 2018 to continue its goal of filming worthwhile projects around the world. The team published its RMI ‘episode’ on May 24, 2018.

In Majuro a focus of the footage is the nuclear age as it affects the Marshalls, but the film-makers interviewed a number of well known Marshallese, not normally seen on camera. The team also travelled on Ben Reimers boat XXXX to catch footage of Arno Atoll.

David Whalen is President and Film Director of LMM. He is the creator of two feature length documentaries: Men of La Mancha and The Wild West of Namibia as well as numerous fundraising shorts for charities.

His description of the RMI clip states: “An overview of the Marshall Islands as part of the U.S. Compact of Free Association. Looks at its history of migration and colonization, the nuclear testing, sea rising issues, and a beautiful look at the natural island Arno Atoll. This is part 1 of a 4 part series on the U.S. Compact. The other parts cover the Federated States of Micronesia and Palau. Filmed on location in March 2018.”
