In the latter part of the last decade, the Historic Preservation Office spearheaded the creation of a website that’s bursting with stories about the Marshall Islands told by the people who lived the stories.

As well, the site has stories from nuclear survivors and includes elders relating traditional legends.

If you want a taste of the Marshall Islands of yesteryear, the Marshall Islands Story Project is the place. See below or go to the site at the following link:

Iakwe! Welcome to the Marshall Islands Stories website. The Marshall Islands Story Project seeks to preserve the rich culture of the Marshall Islands by gathering life stories and traditional tales from Marshallese elders. Central to the Project is the involvement of Marshallese students in the preservation process.
