Adventures at Ailinglaplap

Triple Kitesurf World Champion Moona Whyte was recently in the Marshall Islands as part of her ongoing series of adventures in remote kite spots. Her first words on landing on Ailinglaplap atoll were: “Wow, this is my favorite place ever” … and she hadn’t even seen the breaks yet.
She was attending the Reo Stevens’ Kite Adventure Camp at the Indies Trader island of Beran ( https://www.indiestrader.com ).

Here’s her words on what led her to the shores of RMI: “My name is Moona Whyte and I’m from the North Shore of Oahu, Hawaii, where I learned to surf and have an appreciation for the ocean from a young age. My dad was a professional windsurfer but switched to kiting when it came to Hawaii. He taught me how to kite when I was 14, and I was immediately hooked. Everyday I would head to the beach after school to get a session. I also started shortboarding after that which helped shape the surf style that I now have in kiting. In 2012 I went to my first competition on Maui and placed 1st. Ever since then I have loved competing and pushing myself to get better each year. In 2016 I graduated from the University of Hawaii with a degree graphic design. Now I enjoy traveling to new waves and experiencing new places. I also love seeing girls rip, so I can’t wait to share a session with you!” (Find out more at: https://www.unchartedkitesessions.com/pros/moona-whyte )
