Phone communication in the Marshalls is solely looked after by the government entity called the National Telecommunications Authority (NTA).

Country code: The country code for the Marshall Islands is 692.

Calling overseas: Dial 011 then the country code. (For example, if calling the US, you dial 011, then 1, then the area code, then the number.)

Land lines: On Majuro, land line phone numbers beginning with 625 are between Rita and The Bridge, numbers beginning with 247 are in the eastern part of Long Island, while numbers starting with 528 are for Laura, at the western end of the atoll. Numbers on Ebeye, Kwajalein Atoll, begin with 329.

Cell phones: NTA, in Delap near the Capital Building, sells SIM cards for $15. You can buy minutes by purchasing cards from NTA and a majority of the stores around island. The cards come in $2, $5, and $10 sizes. All cell phones on Majuro begin with 455, 456 or 457. Cell phone calls are 15 cents a minute throughout the country. Cell phone texting costs six cents per text.

Outer islands: Almost all the inhabited outer islands have a phone service. A number of outer islands have or will be getting a cell phone service: Call the NTA help desk to ask which islands and what the prefixes are (625-2276).

Directory inquiries: 625-1411.
