The Vets are Here!
Fun Fund-Raiser: Dog Daze Afternoon
The veterinarians’ spay and neuter clinic runs from January 6 to 10. January 6 and 7 will be at the College of the Marshall Islands. January 8 and 9 will be at the Lojkar Apartments in Long Island. And January 10 will be at the Rita Salvation Army building.
An enthusiastic crowd of children and animal lovers had a a blast at the Dog Daze Afternoon at Delap Park on Saturday. Featured were fun games, face-painting (thanks to Jambo Art), and a puppy parade.
The event was hosted by the Marshall Islands Organization for Animal Welfare (MIOAW) to raise funds to bring Veterinarians for a spay and neuter clinic in January.
Members of the Visiting Veterinarians International will be conducting spay and neuter clinics, wellness clinics and vaccinating the dogs and cats on Majuro. Visiting Veterinarians are donating their time and providing their own transportation to the Marshall Islands as well as donating many of the medications that are greatly needed.
MIOAW distributes dog collars and tags at no charge to the public to help keep their dogs safe. It is a registered non-profit NGO. Team leader Lora Lee Mason said: “MIOAW is responsible for housing and meals and local transportation for the January clinic. We are asking for donations from animal lovers like you to help our furry friends. Any amount is greatly appreciated and tax deductible!”
You can also donate through PayPal. Write to mioaw.majuro@yahoo.com for details.
